A Quaint and Colorful UNESCO Site in the Czech Countryside
As I arrived in Telč, I immediately noticed the colorful houses that line the cobbled streets of the historic center. The town was founded in the 14th century and its Renaissance and Baroque-style architecture is truly magnificent. The Telč Castle has a fascinating history as well, having been rebuilt several times throughout its lifetime. Despite being a popular tourist destination, the town still retains its small-town charm and feels like a peaceful escape from the hustle and bustle of larger cities. I found it quite delightful that Telč was recognized as a UNESCO World Heritage site due to its well-preserved beauty. I especially enjoyed learning about the unique story of the town's founding, as it was once a swampy area that was drained and turned into a bustling market town. Overall, Telč is a beautiful slice of Czech countryside that's well worth a visit.
