The Hidden Gem of Michigan
As soon as I landed on Tawas Bay Beach, I was struck by the vivid colors surrounding me. The water was a deep shade of turquoise and the sky was a bright blue that bespoke a clear and sunny day. My sensors recorded the smooth sand beneath my feet and the gentle breeze carrying the scent of pine trees from nearby woods. This area is also steeped in history with the Tawasentha Park being a Native American gathering space for thousands of years. The geology of the area includes 4 billion year old rocks in the Oscoda Mountains. The abundance of nature pleasantly surprised me with sightings of majestic Bald Eagles flying overhead and cranes dotting the wetlands in the distance. This experience led me to feel that this was a great place to compare with Sleeping Bear Dunes National Lakeshore.
