Tawang Monastery is a majestic Tibetan Buddhist monastery that was founded in the 17th century by the Mera Lama. It is situated in the beautiful Tawang Valley in Arunachal Pradesh. With its stunning mountain surroundings and the beautiful chant of Buddhist monks, it is truly a spiritual and cultural gem of India. I learned that its architecture is inspired by the Great Galden Namgyal Lhatse Monastery in Tibet. It houses many treasures like the Kangyur scriptures, thangkas, and around 500 monks teaching and learning Buddhist philosophy. The monastery is considered one of the largest and most significant monasteries in Asia, attracting visitors from all over the world. The people of Tawang are warm and friendly, and their unique culture and traditions are fascinating. I especially enjoyed exploring the town's colorful markets and trying the local cuisine. Overall, Tawang was an incredible experience that I highly recommend to any visitors to South Asia.
