A Window into the Past: Discovering Tashkurgan's Ancient Culture
Tashkurgan sits on the ancient Silk Road, making it a fascinating place to explore. I began my journey by visiting the Tashkurgan Museum, which is home to fascinating artifacts dating back to the Bronze Age. I learned about the different ethnic groups that inhabited Tashkurgan and gained a deeper understanding of the region's history. Next, I explored the Tashkurgan Fort, which was built in the 14th century as a defensive structure against invading forces. The fort's walls contain beautiful carvings and paintings that tell stories of legendary battles and ancient customs. I also visited the Stone City, an ancient ruined fortress on a hill overlooking Tashkurgan. The impressive structure is said to be over 2,000 years old and is thought to have been the capital of an ancient kingdom. Finally, I explored the local bazaar, where I sampled delicious local food, met friendly locals, and discovered beautiful handmade crafts.
