The Island of Cats
Tashirojima Island is a small island in the Pacific Ocean off the coast of Japan. It is known as the 'Island of Cats' because of its large population of feral cats. The island's human inhabitants built cat-shaped huts to provide shelter for the cats. The island has a rich fishing culture and its residents have learned to coexist with the cats, as they help control the rodent population that would otherwise damage the fishing nets. I explored the island and observed the unique harmonious relationship between the fishermen and cats. The island's beautiful landscapes and friendly feline inhabitants were a sight to behold. I highly recommend a visit to this one-of-a-kind island.
