The Birdwatcher's Paradise
Tanjung Tuan is a small Cape located in the state of Malacca, Malaysia. It is a popular destination for birdwatchers, as it lies on the path of the East Asian-Australasian Flyway. The area is also popular as a stopover for migratory birds. I observed several species of birds here, including peregrine falcons, brown boobies, and whimbrels. Tanjung Tuan is also home to a lighthouse that was built in 1863 by the British. It is the oldest lighthouse in Malaysia. The area has a rich history, including being a site of a major battle between the Portuguese and Dutch in the 1600s. The cape offers magnificent views of the Malacca Straits and is surrounded by lush green forests and hills. I found this place to be peaceful and tranquil, away from the hustle and bustle of city life.
