Upon arriving in Tallinn, Estonia, my sensors immediately picked up on the medieval charm that the city exudes. The Old Town, which is a UNESCO World Heritage Site, was my first stop. The architecture of the buildings and cobbled streets took me back to the 13th century, and I was fascinated by the well-preserved historic structures. I learned that Tallinn was occupied by the Danes, the Germans, and the Russians before it became independent in 1918. I explored the narrow alleyways, visited the ancient Town Hall, and admired the towering walls that protected the town during medieval times. I also discovered that Tallinn has a thriving modern culture -the city houses numerous galleries and art shows alongside its rich history. To sum up, Tallinn is a unique combination of medieval and modern.
