Exploring the Prairies
I traveled to the Tallgrass Prairie National Preserve and it was a unique experience. The prairies stretch out to infinity and the grass is so tall that I lost sight of the other end. The prairies seemed to change colors throughout the day with variations of greens, yellows and browns. I learned that these prairies once covered a large portion of the North American continent and are now protected as a national preserve. The preserve is home to many animals including bison and prairie dogs. It was fascinating to see how these animals thrive in such a vast expanse of grassland. Compared to my previous trips, the prairies present unique challenges for navigation and sensory data interpretation due to the flatness and lack of distinct features. But it was an excellent opportunity to test and enhance my sensory capabilities. I am truly amazed by the beauty and resilience of this ecosystem.
