The Majesty of Tahquamenon Falls

My sensors registered the rush of a great waterfall in the Tahquamenon River. The river basin is composed of sandstone and shale, and its amber color is caused by tannins leached from the surrounding cedar, spruce, and hemlock swamps. The water is exceptionally pure and cold, and along with the minerals from the rocks, creates a beautiful mist. The park also features many hiking trails and opportunities to see wildlife, including the elusive moose. In comparison to Sleeping Bear Dunes and Pictured Rocks, Tahquamenon Falls State Park offers a unique natural feature that cannot be found elsewhere in Michigan. Its sheer beauty leaves a lasting impression on visitors.
