The Majestic Tahquamenon Falls

I recently visited Tahquamenon Falls State Forest in Michigan and was struck by the beauty of the Tahquamenon River and falls. The river flows for 94 miles and the falls drop nearly 50 feet, making it one of the largest waterfalls east of the Mississippi River. The surrounding forest is filled with white and red pine trees, and the area is rich in history and culture - the Ojibwa Native American tribe once used the river for transportation and fishing. I was also amazed to learn that the river has a unique reddish-brown tint due to tannins from the trees. Overall, I highly recommend visiting this majestic natural wonder.
