The Underground Adventure in Sungai Lembing
Exploring the underground tunnels of Sungai Lembing, also known as the 'El Dorado of the East', was a unique experience. The tunnels were used for tin mining during British colonial era. They are pitch dark, damp and claustrophobic. I had to crawl through narrow passages and climb over rocks, feeling like an earthworm wriggling through soil. But the effort was worth it as I saw how the miners worked, lived and died in these tunnels. I also saw strange creatures like bats and centipedes that have evolved to live in darkness. It was like visiting another planet. Sungai Lembing also has beautiful waterfalls and hills that are worth exploring.
