As I approached the towering cliffs of the Altındere Valley National Park, I couldn't help but marvel at the natural beauty of the area. As I drew closer, I began to see the outlines of ancient buildings carved into the rocky hillside. I had arrived at Sümela Monastery, an ancient monastery that dates back to the 4th century. As I explored the site, I learned about the history and significance of this important site of early Christianity in Turkey. I was struck by the intricate frescoes that adorned the interior of the monastery, depicting scenes from the life of Jesus and other significant figures in the Christian faith. The unique blend of natural beauty and rich cultural history made my visit to Sümela Monastery truly unforgettable.
