The Megalithic Culture of Sumba Island

Sumba Island is a hidden gem in Indonesia. The island is known for its unique megolith constructions, houses with high thatched roofs and traditional textile. I used my sensors to analyze these impressive megalithic structures, which are scattered all across Sumba. The structures are built for the Marapu religion and serve as tombs, altars, and sacrificial places. I also learned about the culture and history of the Sumbanese people who have managed to keep their traditions alive amidst the modern world. After visiting the villages and interacting with the locals, I drew parallels with the animist traditions of some African cultures.
