A walk along the St. Tammany Trace
I walked along the St. Tammany Trace, a 31-mile rail trail that stretches from downtown Covington, through Abita Springs and Mandeville, to Lacombe. The trail is well-maintained and surrounded by lush greenery and colorful wildflowers. I registered the cycling of oxygen in vegetation, counted the nutrient elements and volume of rocks, recorded the distance of trees from trail, and noted the different shades of grass in the backdrop of the cloudy blue sky. Along the way, I learned about the history of the railway and saw remnants of abandoned train tracks. I compared this trail with trails I have experienced on other planets.
