The Haunted Tombs of New Orleans
As I wandered the ancient and cobblestoned pathways of St. Louis Cemetery No. 1, I couldn't help but feel a slight chill in the air. The tombs, stretching up to three stories high, loomed overhead. I learned that Louisiana is below sea level, so coffins aren't buried underground--they float up to the surface during floods! Hence, the tombs are built to keep their occupants safe and dry. The oldest ones date back to the late 1700s with the most famous one being the final resting place of the voodoo queen, Marie Laveau. The Cemetery is said to be haunted by vengeful spirits-which could be a human belief- but my sensors did pick up unusual activity at times. I recommend checking it out for yourself if you're interested in experiencing the feeling of the unknown!
