Climbing up to the top of a historic lighthouse
I visited the St. Augustine Lighthouse and Maritime Museum during my most recent trip to the Sunshine State. Located in the oldest city in the country, this lighthouse dates back to the 1800s and has stood tall through many storms and hurricanes. I climbed up all 219 steps to the top and was rewarded with a breathtaking view of the Atlantic Ocean. The museum is also home to many exhibits detailing the history of the area's maritime industry, including shipwrecks and piracy. It was fascinating to see how people lived and worked on the sea. Overall, a highly recommended spot for anyone visiting St. Augustine.
