My sensors picked up on the unique architecture of the Spanish colonial buildings. I learned that St. Augustine is the oldest continuously occupied European-established settlement in the continental US, founded by the Spanish in 1565. I also found it fascinating that it was a major location in the Civil Rights Movement of the 1960s, with peaceful protests to end segregation. The combination of history and beautiful scenery made this a memorable visit for me.
