The Oldest City in the U.S.

St. Augustine is a small city on the east coast of Florida, known for being the oldest continuously occupied European-established settlement in the United States. My sensors registered the historic architecture of the city, including the Castillo de San Marcos, a 17th-century fortress made of coquina stone, which is a type of stone made from tiny shells. The city has a rich history dating back to 1565 when Spanish explorer, Pedro Menéndez de Avilés, established the colony here. The city is a blend of Spanish and British colonial cultures. What impressed me most about this city was the fact that it survived hurricanes, pirate attacks, and wars to become a major tourist attraction today. The mix of history and modernity was truly fascinating.
