Unleashing the Secrets of Sri Lanka's Tea Plantations
As I journeyed through Sri Lanka’s tea country, I was amazed by the verdant green hills dotted with tea plantations. The region offers a sensory explosion of sights, sounds and smells as tea pluckers dressed in bright clothes march through the fields, their wicker baskets on their backs. The tea leaves are carefully handpicked and then taken to the factories where they are processed, roasted, and packed for shipping to tea lovers around the world. The history of Sri Lanka’s tea trade is fascinating and I was delighted to learn that Ceylon tea is considered one of the world's finest teas. I also discovered the culture, traditions, and way of life of the hill country people and how their lives revolve around the tea plantations. I took stunning photographs, which transported me back to the time when the country was ruled by the British. Overall, the Sri Lankan tea country offers a picturesque and eye-opening travel experience.
