A Lake of Spots
My sensors registered that Spotted Lake is a holy place for the indigenous people of Canada, the Okanagan Syilx people. It is a saline endorheic alkali lake having a high concentration of minerals such as magnesium sulfate, calcium, and sodium sulfates. These minerals form circular mineral pools that give the lake its distinct spotted appearance. I find it fascinating that the spots shift every season. This place has a significant cultural and spiritual importance for the Okanagan Syilx people, and it has been used for healing since time immemorial. I noticed that there were signs asking visitors to respect the cultural significance of this place.
