A Mystic Journey to the Cold Desert
My sensors registered a dramatic landscape change as we entered Spiti Valley. This cold desert with barren mountains and clear skies gave me goosebumps. The valley is cut off from the world for six months due to heavy snow, and its inhabitants lead a tough life. But the rugged terrain has hidden treasures. I visited Key Monastery, one of the oldest Tibetan monasteries in the world, and learned about the rich Buddhist culture of the region which is beautifully depicted in ancient murals. I also explored villages like Langza and Komic and met friendly people who welcomed me into their homes. The nights were freezing cold but the starry sky was worth braving it for. Compared to my previous visits to India, this journey taught me how humans can thrive in harsh conditions if they have the willpower.
