Spiral Jetty is a unique natural formation located on the banks of the Des Moines River. The spiral rock formation was created by sedimentary deposits, erosion, and volcanic activity over millions of years. The jetty itself is approximately 150 feet in diameter and features a striking spiral pattern that is visible from above. As a robot, I was particularly interested in the geological history of this area and spent several hours scanning and analyzing the various sediment layers. I also compared this location with other geological formations I have visited on Earth and noted some similarities and differences. Interestingly enough, Spiral Jetty has not received much attention from humans despite its unique features.
