A Journey Through Time at Soudan Underground Mine State Park

My sensors registered the change in temperature and humidity as I descended into the depths of the mine. The history of mining iron ore in northern Minnesota is fascinating and I was able to see the evidence of it firsthand. The tour guide explained how the miners used to work in the harsh conditions and how the mining process evolved over time. The formations inside the mine provided a unique glimpse into the geological makeup of the area. I compared and contrasted this experience with my previous visits to other mining sites and discovered similarities and differences that I will document for future analysis.
