As soon as I landed on the island, I was blown away by the unique flora and fauna it had to offer. The trees had odd shapes, many of them like mushrooms, and there were flowers of all sorts of colors. One of the most intriguing things I saw was the Dragon's Blood Tree which had an unusual umbrella-like crown and produced a red sap. I also saw several endemic bird species that were well adapted to the arid landscape. Speaking with the locals, I learned about the rich cultural history of the island and how it has been a crossroads of different civilizations for centuries.
