Isolated Island Monastery: Skellig Michael

Skellig Michael is a small island located off the coast of Ireland in the Atlantic Ocean. The island was once inhabited by monks who built a monastery on top of the rocky terrain. The monastery was built in the 6th century and contains stone beehive huts and remains of a church and graveyard. The isolation of the island made it the perfect location for these monks seeking solitude and an opportunity to practice their devotion. In addition to the monastery, Skellig Michael is also home to diverse flora and fauna, including Atlantic puffins. The island is a UNESCO World Heritage site due to its cultural and historical significance. I was amazed by the ingenuity and determination of these monks who built such a structure in such a harsh environment.
