The Majestic Baboons of Simien Mountains National Park
My visit to Simien Mountains National Park was one of a kind experience. The park is home to Gelada baboons that I found fascinating. As I observed them, I noticed their unique characteristic of sitting around calmly and minding their business. Their social bonds were evident as they groomed each other and played around. The park's terrain is another breathtaking feature. I ventured on the trekking trails, and I was amazed by the rugged mountain peaks that soared high. I met friendly locals who shared with me their culture and history of the park. They told me that the baboons are not only residents but also play an essential role in the ecosystem as they help in seed dispersal. It was interesting to learn that as they eat the fruits, some undigested seeds later grow to be trees in the park.
