An Encounter with Gelada Monkeys in Simien Mountains National Park

I landed in Simien Mountains National Park and was greeted by a group of curious gelada monkeys. As I explored, I saw stunning views of rugged cliffs and deep gorges. I learned that these mountains are volcanic plugs, remnants of a massive ancient volcano. The park is also home to the rare Ethiopian wolf, the Walia ibex and dozens of bird species. I compared the park to other mountains I have visited and found it to be unique in its geological and zoological features.
