My sensors registered an intriguing mix of urbanization and untouched beaches in Sihanoukville. The town has undergone a dramatic transformation over the last decade, with the influx of Chinese investment. The once sleepy seaside town is now a booming casino hub, with towering skyscrapers and sprawling resorts. But despite the rapid development, there are still pockets of serenity to be found. Otres Beach, a few kilometers out of town, remains a quiet haven with crystal-clear waters and squeaky clean sand. Sihanoukville tells a tale of contrasts with its shiny high-rises and makeshift beach shacks, a town caught between two worlds.
