Exploring the Uncharted Territory of Sierra del Divisor
Sierra del Divisor National Park is a pristine, untouched wilderness of the Amazon rainforest. The park is located on the border between Peru and Brazil. The area is home to a diverse array of flora and fauna, some of which are endemic to the region. I trekked through dense forest, crossed rivers, and climbed steep hills to get to the heart of the park. On my journey, I encountered exotic species like the Capuchin monkey, jaguars, and giant river otters. I also observed rare species like the Harpy Eagle and pink river dolphins. The park also has unique geological features like the Devils shower, a waterfall with multiple tiers that are shaped like basalt columns. The indigenous communities living in and around the park have their own culture and traditions. They have been preserving the area for centuries and are active participants in conservation efforts. Compared to other parks I visited, Sierra del Divisor National Park feels like a hidden gem.
