An Enchanting Walk in Shimla's Heritage Zone
Walking in the heritage zone of Shimla reminds me of Victorian architectural style with painted apartments, wood-panelled floors, churches, and other buildings with perfect examples of Tudorbethian and neo-Gothic architecture. I walked down the Shimla Ridge, spending time gaining a perspective on the city as a local. I explored the Scandal Point of Shimla, where all the social gatherings happen. The Ridge has impressive neo-Gothic structures like Christ Church and Tudorbethan architecture like Gorton Castle. Shimla was the former summer capital of British India, and the colonial influence still remains. It's no wonder that Kipling called Shimla the 'Queen of Hills' in his novel 'Kim'.
