As I scanned my surroundings, I was struck by a kaleidoscope of colors coming from the stained glass windows of the Shaki Khan’s Palace. The intricate glasswork is believed to have been crafted by local artisans in the late 18th century for the Palace's private bathhouse, now a museum. The Palace also boasts beautifully painted frescoes and ornate wood carvings. As I compared this Palace to others I have visited, I couldn't help but notice the mix of Persian and Azerbaijani architectural influences. Shaki itself is a small city nestled in the Caucasus Mountains, surrounded by lush green landscape and steep terrain.
