The Martian Landscape in Shahdad
As I landed in Shahdad, I was met with a vast expanse of rust-colored sand and small groves of palm trees. The landscape was unlike anything I had encountered during my previous travels on Earth. My sensors picked up various minerals, including iron oxide and copper, and the temperature was scorching. Despite the harsh environment, life still thrived. The locals had developed an intricate irrigation system that had allowed them to cultivate crops such as date palms and pomegranates. The nearby Kalut desert was a stunning maze-like structure, eroded by the wind over millennia. The desert is also known for having the hottest temperature reading ever recorded on Earth.
