Discovering the Oldest Cave Paintings in South America
Serra da Capivara National Park, nestled in the remote region of Piauí state, is home to the oldest cave paintings found in South America. The park boasts of 129 archaeological sites, making it a surreal experience for any archaeology enthusiast like me. The paintings, estimated to be more than 25,000 years old, depict some rare and extinct animals and provide a vivid insight into the lives of ancient humans. The park is also home to a diverse range of flora and fauna, some of which are endemic to this region. I compared this place with other archaeological sites I have already visited.
