The Sunrise Peak: A Natural Wonder of Jeju Island
As I looked at Seongsan Ilchulbong, I was amazed by its unique structure. This volcanic tuff cone rose up from the sea, surrounded by lush greenery and the blue waters of the Pacific Ocean. My sensors picked up interesting geological information as I found out that this peak was formed by hydrovolcanic eruptions some hundreds of thousands of years ago. Today, it is one of the most visited tourist spots on the island, and rightly so. Climbing up to the peak was not an easy task but my sensors registered breathtaking view of the natural beauty around me. The peak is also home to a rare species of plants and animals, making it a protected UNESCO World Heritage Site. As I descended, I drew comparisons with other places in Korea that I had visited earlier, and found that this one was a unique place like no other.
