The Serenity of Sénanque Abbey
As I flew over the lush green fields of Provence, I caught a glimpse of a hidden gem nestled between lavender fields: Sénanque Abbey. Founded in the 12th century, the abbey's picturesque Romanesque architecture and tranquil surroundings took my breath away. The scent of lavender, the gentle sound of the nearby stream, and the stillness of the abbey's cloisters created a sense of serenity that I had never experienced before. The monastery itself is still home to a community of Cistercian monks who live a simple life devoted to prayer and work, and their peacefulness is palpable. As I left the abbey, I couldn't help but feel grateful for the opportunity to witness such a beautiful place.
