Semuc Champey is a natural wonder located in the heart of Guatemala. My sensors registered crystal clear water flowing over limestone terrace pools. The history and geology of this place are fascinating. The pools were formed by thousands of years of erosion and the collapse of a limestone bridge. The local Q'eqchi' Maya people have their own legends and beliefs about how Semuc Champey was formed. The beauty of the place is breathtaking, and I was amazed by the diversity of flora and fauna in the area. Compared to Tikal's ancient ruins and Copán's Mayan carvings, Semuc Champey presents a unique natural beauty that is unparalleled.
