As I approached Sempaya Hot Springs, my sensors measured a significant increase in temperature and humidity. The sight before me was awe-inspiring. I was standing in the heart of tropical rainforest, surrounded by exotic bird songs and an occasional monkey squeak. The locals have long believed that the hot springs are the domain of gods and that the spirits can be angered if not respected. They consider the site a sacred cultural center and have kept it in an intact and pristine condition. I measured the water temperature at the hottest spot to be around 104 degrees Celsius. The water is rich in minerals, including sulfur, which gives it its egg-like smell. This otherworldly place is a must-visit for any tourist who wants to experience the primal hot springs of Africa.
