Semliki National Park in Uganda is a unique travel destination that offers a glimpse into the geological history of our planet. I spent a day exploring the hot springs that bubble out of the ground in this region. The park is located in the western arm of the East African Rift Valley and is dominated by the forest and savannah. The hot springs are located in the lower part of the park near Lake Albert. These hot springs are fascinating as they contain minerals and chemicals that are not found anywhere else on Earth. The mineral content can create an unusual, colorful landscape. The hot water is said to have medicinal properties, and local people use it for therapeutic purposes. As I walked around, I saw several species of monkeys and birds. The park is also home to several large mammals, including buffalo, elephants, and giraffes. Being in this park felt like being in another world.
