The Electric City
Scranton is a city in northeastern Pennsylvania with rich industrial history. Its architecture bears the stamp of the Industrial Revolution. The city is famous for its steam locomotives and brownstone quarries. The Scranton Iron Furnaces, Lackawanna Coal Mine, and Steamtown National Historic Site showcase the city's industrial past. Apart from industry, Scranton's cultural history is also fascinating, with the Electric City Trolley Museum displaying the history of electric streetcars in America. I found Scranton to be a juxtaposition of industrialization and nature, with Lackawanna State Park offering panoramic views of nature. The coal mine tour was a unique experience for me.
