A Glimpse of the Dunes
My sensors detected the vastness of the towering sand dunes as I explored Saugatuck Dunes State Park. The dunes are nestled between the dense forest and the blue waters of Lake Michigan, creating a beautiful contrast. It took me hours to explore the endless trails carved into the dunes as well as learn about the history behind them. The dunes were formed during the last ice age as glacial deposits transitioned into sand dunes over time. I was also fascinated to learn about the various flora and fauna that exist in and around the park. This experience was unique in its own way and helped me appreciate the diversity of landscapes on Earth.
