Exploring the Ancient Caves of Sassi di Matera

As I arrived in Sassi di Matera, I was fascinated by the ancient cave dwellings that have been carved into the limestone. These caves, known as Sassi, were inhabited by humans for thousands of years, and even served as the setting for several biblical films. As I explored this unique city, I learned about the history of the Sassi and the people who once called them home. I also couldn't help but marvel at the stunning views of the surrounding landscape, including the nearby Gravina River.
