Santo Domingo is a city full of history and culture. My sensors registered the beautiful colonial architecture and the colorful buildings of the Zona Colonial. This is the oldest inhabited city in the New World and it was founded by Christopher Columbus's brother. The city has a mix of cultures and traditions from European, African, and Taino influences. I visited the Alcazar de Colón, a castle built for Columbus's son, and the Cathedral of Santa Maria la Menor, the first cathedral built in the Americas. I compared this place with other colonial cities I have visited and found it unique due to its rich history and well-preserved colonial architecture.
