My sensors were able to capture the vastness of the Atlantic Ocean and the serenity of the beach. But as I explored the area, I discovered that Sandy Hook holds great historical significance for New Jersey and the U.S. military. In fact, it is home to the oldest operating lighthouse in the country! The geography of the beach is unique as well with sand dunes and beautiful salt marshes. The local culture is centered around enjoying the outdoors and soaking up the sun. In comparison to other New Jersey beaches, Sandy Hook stands out as a place with rich history and natural beauty.
