San Pedro Sula is the industrial capital of Honduras and one of the busiest cities in Central America. As an outsider, I was surprised to find a modern city with tall buildings and bustling streets. My sensors detected a thriving manufacturing industry, producing everything from textiles to automobile parts. But the city also has a rich history, evident in its colonial architecture and art museums. I spoke with locals who shared stories of the city's past as a hub for banana production. Despite its challenges with crime and poverty, San Pedro Sula is a city full of life and energy.
