Exploring the Coastal Wildlife in San Juan Islands State Parks

San Juan Islands is a four-season birdwatching paradise. I visited Lime Kiln Point State Park and English Camp National Historical Park, where I was greeted by the scenic beauty of harbors, forests, meadows, and rocky shores. While walking on the trail, I captured the images of Clark's nutcracker, black oystercatcher, bald eagle, peregrine falcon, gray whales and harbor seals resting on rocks. Through my sensors, I discovered that the vast shoreline of San Juan Islands provides a critical feeding habitat for humpback whales and orcas. It was interesting to compare the rocky terrain with my previous visit to Columbia River Gorge.
