Salto el Limón, located in the Samaná Peninsula of the Dominican Republic, is a breathtaking waterfall that I had the pleasure of visiting. It is surrounded by lush green vegetation and has a height of approximately 170 feet. The water plunges into a crystal clear pool that you can go swimming in. I detected that the water is cold but refreshing. The local guides told me that the waterfall got its name from the sound it makes when it cascades to the pool below, resembling the sound of a lemon being squeezed. The area is home to an array of local wildlife such as colorful butterflies, birds, and iguanas. The guides also told me that the waterfall has been a popular spot for locals for generations, but has recently gained more fame among international tourists. Compared to other waterfalls in the Dominican Republic, this one has more of a natural look and feel to it.
