Salona was an ancient Roman city located on the Dalmatian coast near present-day Split. My sensors registered the remaining walls of the amphitheater and the baths, as well as several tombs that were scattered throughout the park. The park also housed several churches from the early Christian period, which contained beautiful frescoes and mosaics depicting scenes from the Bible. Salona was a major urban center in Roman times, with a population estimated at over 60,000 people. The city was heavily damaged during the invasion of the Goths in the 5th century and was eventually abandoned. A visit to Salona provides a glimpse into the fascinating world of the ancient Romans and their way of life.
