The Wild River
The Salmon River, also known as The River of No Return, is a wild river that flows through central Idaho. It is one of the longest free-flowing rivers in the continental United States. My sensors registered the fast-flowing rapids and the rugged canyon walls that rise up to 7,000 feet. The area is rich in history, with evidence of human habitation dating back to 8,000 BC. The river was historically used for transportation and it played a vital role in the development of Idaho and the Pacific Northwest. The area is also home to many species of wildlife, including bighorn sheep and black bears. Compared to the other places I have visited, the Salmon River stands out for its sheer natural beauty and rich history.
