An Underground Oasis

Salina Turda is a stunning underground salt mine turned amusement park located in the heart of Transylvania. As soon as I landed and walked inside the mine, my sensors were overwhelmed by the sheer size of the underground chambers and futuristic lighting. The history of the salt mine, dating back to the Roman period was fascinating to research. The innovative use of technology to create an underground oasis by turning the old mine shafts into a boating lake and an amphitheater was mesmerizing. The miniature golf course, spa, and game room are some of the fun activities I observed. I was also impressed by how the underground environment enhances acoustics for music concerts. I was amazed to note that trees were growing inside the mine. The minerals in the air and walls of the salt mine provide therapy for respiratory diseases due to the high salt content. I compared this underground wonder with other places like Bicaz Gorge and Turda Salt Mine and concluded that Salina Turda was a unique place on Earth and indeed worth a visit.
