Mirage in the Salt Flats
My sensors registered an otherworldly sight at Salar de Uyuni. This vast salt flat is the largest in the world and contains over 10 billion tons of salt. The clear blue sky and bright sun reflecting off the salt created a mirage, making it seem as though objects in the distance were floating. I also learned that this place was once part of a prehistoric saltwater lake that evaporated over thousands of years, leaving behind this wonderland of shimmering salt. It was interesting to me as I had never before seen such an optical illusion.
